Paper Abstract:      Instructional planning is an important professional activity frequently implemented by teachers. However, many university-based teacher education programs disadvantage the learning about instructional planning. To improve this situation, this study adopted cognitive apprenticeship as theoretical foundation to construct a web-based learning model that integrated some Internet technologies. The seven-week web-based course is designed and implemented to examine the effectiveness of this model. The experimental results revealed that compared with traditional training programs, the web-based course is better at improving pre-service teachers’ performance and attitudes about instructional planning. Furthermore, possible factors are identified and suggestions for teacher education and web-based instruction are provided.
